Sai Baba lived in the village of Shirdi in Maharashtra, India. Known for his miraculous healing abilities, it was believed that even a single glance from him could cure ailments. Though little is known about his early life, upon his arrival in Shirdi, locals quickly recognized his extraordinary powers and reverently addressed him as “Sai” (Master). Many devotees consider him an incarnation of Lord Rama.
Sai Baba maintained a sacred, ever-burning fire (dhuni) and distributed its ash (udi) as holy prasad, believed to bring protection, blessings, and healing to those who sought his help. According to a popular legend, Sai Baba was seen as an incarnation of Lord Shiva; it’s said that as a child, he once opened his mouth to reveal the divine image of Shiva within. This miraculous sign deepened the villagers’ devotion to him, leading them to worship him as a divine saint.
